Tips
1.5 hours from SF. Most inland trails prohibit dogs. Best dog options: Limantour Beach SE section (2 mi), Great Beach from North Beach parking lot south, and Kehoe Beach Trail (0.6 mi). Snowy plover nesting (March 1–September 30) closes the beach south of the Kehoe trail and north of North Beach parking; elephant seal season (January–March) closes the beach south of the old Navy installation. October–November has the fewest closures.
