About Bay Area Dog
Bay Area Dog (bayarea.dog) is a guide to dog-friendly places in the San Francisco Bay Area — off-leash beaches, trails, restaurants with patios, pet stores, and emergency vet information — plus free tools like a raw food calculator and a toxic food checker.
How we verify leash rules
Leash rules change, and getting them wrong gets dogs (and owners) in trouble. Every on-leash / off-leash boundary on this site cites the agency that actually manages the land — the National Park Service and GGNRA Superintendent's Compendium, California State Parks, the East Bay Regional Park District, the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District, and city park departments. Rules are re-checked against those sources on a weekly cadence, and each trail page shows when it was last updated. If an official rule and common practice differ (as at the Albany Bulb), we say so explicitly rather than papering over it.
